Task Force for Mission, Ministry and Management

The Origin and work of the Task Force.
This Task Force was established following discussions and a motion at the meeting of the DEC on 23rd November 2013. The members have been:

Ms Shirley Duncan
The Very Rev Michael J. Pitts (Chairperson)
Mr John Rasmussen
Ms Marie Rübsteck
The Rev Yves Samson
Ms Ruth Sheeran
The Rev Wendy Telfer
The Rev Darla Sloan acted as administrative assistant for part of the work.

The Task Force has met by video conference on four occasions, 16th February, 2nd March, 14th March, and 6th April. Between meetings members have undertaken various tasks to enable the creation of this report. For a number of reasons we have somewhat deviated from the initial mandate. The chief of these was a shortage of time and resources, but there was also a shift in the financial picture presented at the November DEC meeting. The Chair of our Task Force has been in close contact and dialogue with the Bishop and Executive Archdeacon and some of the changes to the mandate have resulted from those discussions. Other proposed changes have met with their full approval. What is presented in this report is an overview of the current financial and pastoral situation in the congregations of our Diocese together with suggestions for the key areas in which continuing work needs to be undertaken.

In consulting these documents, the reader needs to be aware that the material recorded here consists of perceptions by groups and individuals about the state of our Anglican church in he Québec Diocese. These perceptions have been gathered by various means, chiefly telephone interviews, group and individual questionnaires and the collective wisdom of the members of the taskforce, which was mandated by the Diocesan Executive Council to prepare these reports. It should also be born in mind that in order to maintain the confidentiality needed to elicit as honest answers as possible, the results presented are expressed as averages across the whole diocese. There are congregations and ministries in various places which are undertaking exciting and innovative work, about which more can be learned from other area of this web-site.

A second and final report from the taskforce was presented to the Diocesan Executive Council at its meeting of 23rd to 24th January 2015. This report was received by the council and the task force, having completed its work, was formally dissolved.
