The Diocesan Anglican Church Women (ACW) was originally found in 1886 under the name of the Women’s Auxiliary to the Missionary Society of the Church of England in Canada, Quebec Diocesan Branch. Many of the congregations have a local ACW group who support their churches in many different ways.
At the diocesan level they are active in a number of charitable projects and educational support for students from remote parts of the diocese, they also hold a diocesan wide biennial meeting. The most recent was held at Trinity Church, Quebec, June 2-4, 2006. The Diocesan Executive Committee are: Joan Gibb, President ; the Rev. Lorna Baird, Vice-President; Gracie Annett, Secretary; Phyllis Gauthier, Treasurer; Maureen Taylor, Worship Chair; the Rev. Barbara Wintle, Education; Beulah Smith representative for the Quebec Deanery; Margaret Woollerton St. Francis Deanery representative and Marilyn Flowers the Gaspé Deanery. The term of office for these positions is two years.
The Most Rev. Stavert and the new Executive Committee of the ACW at the Installation of Officers held Pentecost Sunday 2006 in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.
ACW Student Bursaries: The Anglican Church Women of the Diocese of Quebec have small bursaries available for students from the Magdalen Islands, the Lower North Shore and the Gaspe Peninsula to enable them to continue their education at CEGEP or University level, if living away from home.
